The anti-kyphosis corset

Kyphosis is a deformity of the spine in the sagittal plane. Typically, the patient has a vaulted posture associated with a serious lumbar curve and a significant shift of the axis of the body backwards.

Corset Indications:

  • Hyper kyphosis
  • Scheuermann's disease
  • Epiphysitis

This deformity can become unsightly if not corrected, it causes frequent pain and deformity of the vertebrae involved.

After using several types of corsets that did not give us satisfaction, we  developed an adjustable anti-kyphosis corset.

It is manufactured after scanning with maximum correction. The first step is to reduce the lordosis, the second corrects the kyphosis and rebalances the spine in the sagittal plane.

It is all in one and has a posterior opening ,it has sternal support  and is adjustable in different axes thanks to indexed lateral joints.
It is manufactured in thermoformable material (polyethylene).

Tested for many  years in many cases, this device has the following advantages:

  • Lightness.
  • Discretion.
  • Easy adjustment: lateral joints allow us to change the pressure of the sternal support in light of changes during the course of the treatment.
  • Radiolucency.
  • Reliability.

Its efficiency is good when the top of the curvature is situated at maximum the sixth thoracic vertebra. Over that, the posterior support enters into conflict with the sternal support and the corset is not effective.

Disadvantage: posterior closure with Velcro is less easy to manipulate than

with a front opening corset
