The SWIMMING PROSTHESIS

The so called "Bathing" proshesis is a prosthesis that offers the possibility to go underwater or into a very wet environment. It enables different activities, it provides among other activities boating, surfing, jet skiing, windsurfing, walking in the river, for users to immerse themselves in the pool or the sea, swimming, diving, or just taking a shower on two legs.

This prosthesis should have several characteristics:

• It should be as light as possible so that walking is comfortable.
• Materials must be strong and rot resistant.
• The foot must withstand salt water and provide maximum strength.
• The socket must be designed so that its immersion does not cause loosening and does not humidify the stump.
• The structure of the prosthesis must allow water to enter so that its immersion density is as close as possible to the sound limb. The buoyancy force is applied to the swimmer so as to be uniform, so that the prosthesis floats, in the same way as the rest of the body.
